On behalf of my family and campaign I want to wish a Happy Independence Day to all Filipinos and friends across the Greater Toronto Region, Canada and around the World!
As we raise the flag and sing the national anthem to celebrate the 112th anniversary of the declaration of independence, let us remember the heroism and sacrifices made by our forebears.
Here in Greater Toronto, 200,000 Filipinos call it home, 31,000 of them in Mississauga and 6000 of them in Ward 7.
We should be proud of our contributions to society, as we serve in every sector from the arts, business, education, entertainment, finance, government, health, hospitality, journalism and sports.
With instilled values of hard work, respect, generosity and humbleness, I am confident that this will be another great year of success and triumph for Filipino Canadians.
