Time and again, the qualities of our people make me feel such pride in being Canadian:

• creativity and hard work that over the generations have built and sustained our prosperity;
• tolerance and respect, from which we find strength and purpose in unmatched diversity;
• compassion and generosity, that are the foundation of our commitment to sharing prosperity and opportunity;

values that have made Canada the best nation in the world in which to live — a nation where anything is possible.

This is the country which we have built together, which our forebears have built together, with imagination, with passion, with vision, and with compassion.

As I reflect on these qualities, I am filled with a sense of humility at the privilege of being a citizen of our great country.

I thank our democratic system for allowing me the extraordinary honour and privilege of standing as candidate for Mississauga city councillor – Ward 7  in the upcoming municipal election on October 25th. I pledge to continue to work hard to earn the position to serve my fellow Canadians.

I would like to give a special welcome to new Canadians who become citizens today. I welcome each and every one to our national family.

You enliven us. You enrich us. You expand our imagination. You challenge our complacency. You add to our diversity. You are so much our future, building on the great traditions that have built this country over generations. You are part of our future.

Today, as we celebrate our democratic freedoms, our national day, let us be inspired by the great stories of inspiration of our 34 million fellow citizens.

Happy Canada Day!  Long live our great country!
